Training and Employment Childcare (TEC) Programme

Training and Employment Childcare (TEC) Programme is operated by the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA), to support parents on eligible training courses and eligible categories of parents returning to work, by providing subsidised childcare places.

The TEC Programme consists of:

Childcare Education and Training Support Programme (CETS)

The purpose of the programme, is to support parents on eligible ETB/Solas training courses, by providing subsidised childcare places. CETS is administered on behalf of the Department of Education. Places can be full-time, part-time, after-school only or after-school with pick up. ETB/Solas have sole responsibility for deciding who is eligible to avail of the CETS Programme.

After-school Childcare Programme (ASCC)

The purpose of the programme, is to support low income and unemployed people to take up a job, increase their days of employment, or take up a place on a DEASP Employment Programme. The programme provides subsidised after-school childcare for certain DEASP customers, who have children of primary school age. The DEASP have sole responsibility for deciding who is eligible to avail of the ASCC Programme.

Community Employment Childcare Programme (CEC)

CE Childcare (CEC) Programme is administered on behalf of the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection (DEASP). The programme provides part-time or after-school care for children up to 13 years of age, where a parent is participating on a CE Scheme. The DEASP have sole responsibility for deciding who is eligible to avail of the CEC Programme.

The DCYA has published Rules for DCYA Childcare Funding Programmes 2018-19 which covers all aspects of the scheme and while aimed primarily at Early Years Services, it also provides useful information for parents.
